The Team

I feel extremely blessed to have such a genuine, honest, and reliable bunch of humans working at The Picture Hanger.

The stories of how I’ve come to meet and work with each person is totally unique – I couldn’t have planned it any better if I’d tried.

Everyone you will speak with at The Picture Hanger is a creative individual, with many splitting their time between working for The Picture Hanger and their artistic practice. Each art technician will bring their creative flair and eye for composition to the work we carry out for you.

I’m sure you’ll find working with them as rewarding as I do.

Patrick Donohoe, Founder of The Picture Hanger

Patrick Donohoe

Born and bred in Sydney, Australia, I’ve been hanging pictures and installing art since 1998. I began working for various galleries and institutions while an undergraduate at the College of Fine Art, University of New South Wales, and haven’t stopped since.

In 2008, I moved to Brighton and, soon after, set up The Picture Hanger.

I’m a practising artist specialising in collage and am the co-director of APEC, an artist-run studio complex in Hove.

If I’m not spending time with my lively young boys, Hugo and Wren, then you’ll find me in the art studio making collage, Morris dancing with Brighton Morris or climbing a tree in the woods.

Callum Murphy — London

Our delightful Callum has worked with us since Spring 2021. Since then he has transformed hundreds of homes in and around London.

We often get the question “do we like every picture we hang?”

The answer is, obviously, not always. Everyone’s taste is different.

We were chatting to Callum about this recently and we loved his take on it.

“I ask the client what they like about it, where they bought it, why they bought it and approach it from their perspective. By the end of the appointment, I’ll normally find myself appreciating the piece in a new light.”

Gold.

Outside of picture hanging, you’ll find him in his art studio in West London. His work demonstrates his talent and eye for colour and collage. Have a peek at it here!

For the last four years, Callum lived on a house-boat, regularly re-locating around rivers in London. I had a really good joke about this for the website but, since then, he’s moved into a house on land, so there’s nothing moor to say on that.

Oh, and he worked a stint as a postman when he was at Uni, so he won’t be intimidated by your overexcited pet dogs/cats/Komodo dragons.

Georgina Strutt — Cambridgeshire, Suffolk, Norfolk & Essex

Christie’s, Sotheby’s, Philip Treacy, London College of Fashion, The Picture Hanger… it’s an impressive and diverse résumé.

Our wonderful art technician Georgina works with our clients across Cambridgeshire, Suffolk, Norfolk and Essex and we’re very lucky to have her.

G has a wonderfully calm and sophisticated aura about her. She has a gentle woman’s touch and a knack for DIY that will put your local handyman to shame. A rare find.

Much like her work, Georgina’s life away from TPH is creative and intriguing. Residing on a farm in Suffolk with two wonderful children, one wine-taster husband, and five sheep,

Georgina occasionally has to go away for several days at a time to drink fine wine. Life’s tough sometimes, isn’t it?

Since her time working with Philip Treacy a few years back, Georgina has kept up her skill of designing gorgeous custom-made hats for friends and families, and continues to harness her flair for colour and attention to detail that makes her such a great picture hanger.

She’s excellent at what she does, so if you’d like Georgina to pay you a visit and strutt (get it?!) her stuff, don’t be shy… Get in touch using our contact form.

Oh, and she (almost) climbed Everest, so scaling a ladder to install a gallery wall along your staircase will be a walk in the park for her!

Jesse Wade — London

If you’ve ever posted a job ad you’ll know you get inundated with applicants!

Jesse easily stood out from the crowd as a solid, down to earth gentleman – a perfect addition to our team.

He began working with us in March 2019. Alongside his work as an art technician, Jesse is a practising artist with a studio in South Bermondsey.

He graduated with a BA Painting in 2003 from Camberwell College of Arts. In 2018 he graduated with an MA Painting from the Royal College of Art.

Jesse brings over 10 years of art technician experience working with a variety of art institutions and private clients in London.

Behind the scenes...

Marty — marketing & bookings

Marty runs The Picture Hanger’s marketing & social media, arranges larger scale commercial jobs and works closely with Pat to grow the business.

Outside of The Picture Hanger, you’ll most likely find him in the studio working on music.

Jane — Bookings

Jane applied for the role by sending in a recording of herself singing Your Song by Elton John.

But there was a twist… she’d rewritten the lyrics to make them relevant to picture hanging and why she’d be great for the job.

At the time, I remember saying to Pat, “she’s either going to be absolutely hilarious, or totally unbearable.”

Luckily, it was the former.

Clients love Jane and it’s no wonder why. She’s bubbly, on-the-ball, and gets things done. She has a great rapport with the whole team and provides giggles on a daily basis with her amusing turns of phrase.

She lives in Sussex with her two wonderful children and two stunning cats.
